Disappointment. That is the feeling in the wake of the French International Ladies Amateur Championship, certainly my last amateur event. It was important to me to end on a good note at such a great tournament on a beautiful course. Although I am still an amateur, I prepared myself like a professional as well as I could. I played the course twice before the official practice round, did a great yardage book and became acquainted with the golf course. Unfortunately, golf is surprising and as Arnold Palmer said “Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated; it satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time rewarding and maddening - and it is without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented.” I shot 74-75 the first two days to make the cut (top 36 of the 96 players advanced to the last two rounds). Then, despite a pretty good 73 on Sunday afternoon, 79 in the morning prevented me from climbing up the leaderboard and I finished 34th. My putting cost me a lot this week whereas it usually is a strength. I have two weeks ahead of me to work hard and be ready for the Ladies European Tour pre-qualifier. Let's make it count!
